Kaggle

Lead User Experience Researcher

  • Work with key stakeholders, to plan, lead and conduct research to understand the needs, workflows, workarounds and general perceptions of Kaggle’s Model Hub and Datasets.
  • Work closely with our Director, Marketing team, Engineering team, and the Design team as well as the other side of Kaggle that is all about competitions, to help inform what research projects will make the biggest impact for Kaggle and discuss alternate methods for smaller projects that UXR may not have bandwidth for.
  • Conduct user research using remote tools that allow for screen sharing.  These tools range from Userzoom Go, Usertesting.com, and Zoom and Google meets.
  • Majority of research is a mixed method approach. Different platforms are used for different aspects of research.  The ones consistently used are:
    • User interviews and Concept Testing using Userzoom Go
    • Surveys using Qualtrics
    • Usability testing using Usertesting
    • Information architecture using Optimal workshop
    • Data analysis using either Qualtrics or spreadsheet to code
    • Telling the story of the research using Powerpoint slides, video snippets, and quotes from the users.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and prepare research results to present to leadership the insights and actionable recommendations that came out of the research project.
  • Design and Facilitate workshops to support design direction through early concept testing, formative, and summative research testing.

User Experience Researcher

  • Prepare research plans and surveys for Bing Website
  • Analyze survey results from qualtrics using excel spreadsheets and the tools of qualtrics to create graphs.
  • Present to product managers the results of these surveys making sure to start with results that had significant probability of increasing views of the Bing website.
    • Biggest issue we had was not having enough Bing users to compare to Google users. (Solved this problem by using conditional probability formula)
  • Conduct A/B tests on different concept pages using an internal tool that allows multiple people to view and vote on these pages.

Developed and executed comprehensive research plans and surveys for Bing Website, translating complex analytics into strategic insights that informed product decisions. Applied rigorous quantitative methods using Excel and Qualtrics to analyze user behavior and market trends, delivering actionable recommendations to product leadership.

Collaborated with cross-functional teams to identify research priorities and develop research strategies that addressed critical business questions. Solved complex analytical challenges through probabilistic modeling and statistical analysis to overcome data limitations.

Principal User Experience Researcher

  • Prepare research plans and strategy for major changes to our mobile presence. Provide insights and recommendations instrumental to changing the look and feel of the mobile experience.
  • Conducting user research within agile mobile development lifecycle for designers and developers using both qualitative and quantitative methods to generate insights for the mobile app.
  • Prepare research plans according to company business goals, using design for delight methods to help bring research, data, and design together to create and generate ideas.
    • Customer problem statements narrowed down to solutions using a 2×2 method or 100 point system, to understand what solution assumptions are the most critical to prove/disprove.
  • Create and conduct business stakeholder interviews, gap analysis, end to end user journey maps, usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), surveys, and interviews to understand users’ mental model.
  • Conducted many interviews with participants that needed accessibility help.  Through this research the team was able to clear some major blockers for users of the platform that have low or no vision.
